In recent years our students have been lucky enough to benefit from the generosity of Hans and Carmen Rey and their fantastic NGO, Wheels4Life. Thanks to their amazing supporters this year we received 50 new bicycles for our students. This means they can now cycle to school and job interviews without having to rely on buses or taking long treks.
Hans and Carmen work tirelessly to bring together cycling enthusiasts from around the world to fundraise for bicycles for people in need. One of these enthusiasts is Davide Bushi from New Zealand, who visited our school on the day the bicycles arrived. He was able to see for himself the smiles on our students’ faces when they received the bikes he’d fundraised for.
One lovely young boy, Garrett, asked friends and family to donate to Wheels4Life for his birthday instead of buying him presents, with this generous gesture Garrett raised funds for 11 more bicycles. The rest were funded by BikePark Wales, who held a ‘fancy dress congo bike ride’ to raise money and even made the record for ‘the longest bike train’ at the same time.
