Spring Event Success

05/26/2022

We were absolutely delighted to get back to seeing our wonderful supporters faces in person as we held two events in the United States in April.

Held nearly 2,000 miles apart on Long Island, New York and in Casper, Wyoming both together raised the incredible total of just under $15,000. Every penny of which will go directly to our students at The School of Hope.

The Long Island event was held on a picturesque shoreline and featured an amazing band who kept the whole room dancing with their bachata and salsa hits. The Wyoming event was held in a low key western bar and was hosted by a skilled auctioneer in a tall black cowboy hat. The events were very different in their organization and their crowd, but they were united by the same cause.

They were filled with a mixture of sponsors and frequent visitors to Guatemala, as well as people unfamiliar with EFTC who were eager to learn more. Everyone in attendance was united by the same belief, that all children and youth should have access to quality education and life changing opportunities.

These events were made possible by the team in Guatemala as well as the Antigua community who generously donated beautiful and unique items to be used in the event auctions. Auction items included a hand embroidered Huipil lovingly made by our Junior High teacher, Ashlie, in her very limited spare time. Another prize included a gorgeous drawing of the famous Antigua arch drawn by our very talented Architecture student, Gabriel. Sharing Guatemalan goods and the work of our students was an extra special part of the events.

A big thank you to former teacher, volunteer, and dedicated sponsor Emily Torre as well as her amazing family who organized the Long Island event. This was the third annual event and we can't wait to see what future years hold for it.
