At the end of a long, hard year - Christmas has come early at EFTC!
Before the school closes on Wednesday, our team in Guatemala have been busy packing up hundreds of food bags, gifts, toys, toothbrushes and treats to make sure that our families have everything they need over the break.
Jorge, the head of Junior High even donned a splendid Santa outfit to give gifts of toys to our youngest students who couldn’t stop smiling all day. Christmas music filled the school playground, spreading festive joy as parents came to collect their food hampers, knowing that they would have sufficient food to feed their families right through to the new year.
Reflecting on 2020, we are reminded of all the things we have learnt this year. EFTC went from being primarily an education provider to distributing vital emergency support to over 400 families, reaching 2,173 individuals in total! Since the school closed its doors on March 16th we have given out an incredible 4,209 food hampers. A massive hats off to our team of dedicated staff who have made all of this possible. We wish them a well deserved and restful break!
2020 has certainly been a turbulent year but the EFTC community is stronger than ever. We feel well equipped for whatever challenges 2021 may bring. Our new Covid-safe hybrid program is in place and we hope to see the smiling faces of our students back at the School of Hope in January! Watch this space for updates.
In the meantime, Feliz Navidad from Guatemala!
